Choosing a basic hue like Blue, Yellow, green, etc. is easy.
It is
the building up of a colour scheme and using colours in a pleasing fashion
that often seems to be a complicated task. The first step therefore is
choosing the basic 'hue' and deciding on the distribution pattern of
colour. This can be done by following the basic law of colour distribution
and harmony which states that:
- Colours of lowest intensity should be used
on large areas and high intensity colours only on accents;
- Warm colours to be used in north and east
facing rooms, while cool colours are ideal for the sunny south and west
facing ones
- Before deciding on a colour scheme,
attention should be paid to details like:
a.Size and shape of the room
b.Direction of artificial and natural light
c.Lifestyle of the occupant
d.Utility of room
